We show up with a camera, a notebook, and enough time to get it right.
Central Standard is a documentary magazine for Central Ohio.
We tell the stories of businesses that most people drive past without thinking about. The restaurant that opened in a building that sat dark for five years. The painter whose resume is visible on half the storefronts downtown. The realtor who tells you what's actually true about the house, even when the truth costs him the sale.
These are not businesses that exist because a market study told someone to open them. They exist because someone had a skill, or a conviction, or a deep unwillingness to let a building sit empty.
We believe that kind of bet deserves to be told well.
Not with a Facebook post that gets 12 likes and disappears. Not with stock photography and a Canva template. With film. With professional photography. With writing that reads like something you'd find in a magazine — because it is one.
Every feature starts the same way. We spend time in the room. We learn the names, the rhythms, the parts of the story the owner forgot were interesting. Then we film it on cinema-grade equipment, write it in longform, and publish it to the people who actually live nearby.
We started Central Standard because we kept meeting business owners who were doing incredible work in their communities — and nobody was writing about them. Not the local paper. Not the internet. Nobody.
So we decided to be the ones who did.
Trust in a small town travels by neighbor, not by billboard. Do good work for the person in front of you, and that person tells the next person.
Central Standard works because it tells true stories to the people who live nearby. Your neighbors don't need another ad. They need a reason to walk through your door. We give them one.
A professionally shot and edited documentary that captures what it actually feels like to walk through your door. Published on your page and shareable everywhere.
An 800-word editorial profile written by someone who spent time in your business and cared enough to get it right.
Professional images of your space, your team, and the details that make your business yours. Not stock. Not staged. Real.
A dedicated page on Central Standard that lives as long as the site does. Your story, always findable, always linkable.
Targeted ad campaigns to the people who actually live in your community. Not vanity metrics. Neighbors who see your name and walk through the door.
Want a deeper shoot, an extended ad run, or a full content package? Options open up after your feature goes live.
We're selecting the next round of features now.
